The Morrowind Diaries

Fiction

Hello, and welcome to the Morrowind Diaries. What exactly is this? Well, you can think of this as a walkthru for the Bethesda Softworks game The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. It is written in the form of a journal of a character within the game.

What made me decide to do this? Well, Morrowind is a huge game. There are literally hundreds of things to do, NPCs to interact with and secrets to find. This makes for a very immersive experience, but the sheer volume of things to do makes it difficult to remember what was where and who wanted you to do what. Note taking is a must. Well, from taking notes it is just a short step to writing this journal and I thought it would be an interesting exercise. I was also inspired by The Journal of Elmonster by Kevin Dorner, found on his excellentBaldurdashsite, in which he did something similar for the game Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn.

I found it entertaining to play the game while keeping the notes for this, as I found myself paying more attention to what I was doing. I also think it enchances the role-playing aspects of the game since I kept trying to think how my character would respond in the situations he found himself in. I hope you find it useful or entertaining as well.
